Keep Going!

In the big picture, is there really any other option that works out better for us?

Yes, sometimes we need to stop for a time, to change directions, rest, rejuvenate or reflect. On the canvas of our lives, those times are merely strokes of different color. On the map of our journey, those times may be detours, delays or just stopovers. They are part of our journey in which we keep going. When traveling across the world, it would be unreasonable to expect most planes to keep going without stopping to refuel. Likewise when traveling across a country in a car, train or bus. Stopping is part of the journey. Resting is part of the journey. Reflection is part of the journey, as are some detours and adjustments to our routes at time.

Don’t give up! Keep going! Recently being challenged with a lot of new things to learn, I sigh and think “more?” Does it never end? Then I questioned, what’s the alternative? If I don’t keep going forward, I go backward by default. If I don’t go one direction, that leaves the other direction. It’s not really an option. Some of what we learned in the past is obsolete now. So we keep going and take with us the lessons, values and memories that mean the most and make a difference. The speed with which we see and experience change may require us to stop and catch up. Like any highway, not every vehicle goes the same speed. That’s okay, you’ll get there if you just keep moving forward and just keep going. Even a snail covers a lot of ground if you added up all the movement in it’s lifetime.

When driving through Northern Ontario, I remember how many times I’d go around another bend and there before me would be the most beautiful and scenic view. Totally unexpected. A great place to stop, get out, breathe in the fresh air, have a picnic and enjoy the journey. Other places I stopped because it would be dangerous if I didn’t get some sleep. Other places I’d keep going no matter what because I didn’t want to get stuck in that place. Since it was part of my route, the best thing I could do was just keep going and get out of that area or territory as fast as I could. Every minute was another minute closer to where I wanted to go and further from where I didn’t want to be.

So just keep going my friend. Sometimes it’s better when you have a friend traveling with you. Sometimes you may be alone, but it’s not forever. There is a divine plan and purpose for you – ask, trust and expect God to bring it to pass in your life. Keep your eyes, ears, heart and mind open and KEEP GOING!

Do I have a Divine ASSIGNMENT? And who gives it to me? I am now 60 years old. Why still an Assignment at this age? Anything enlightening would be sufficient to whet my curiosity further. Thanks!

    Hi Ben:

You, your life, your purpose, the gift you are to others, the things that make you you, and the ways in which you make a difference to the people, places and circumstances you find yourself involved can all be part of your divine assignment and purpose for “being” and furthermore for “being here now at this time and place in life”. Often the things and ways in which we feel so fulfilled, valued, appreciated and makes life seem so worthwhile can also be clues to our divine assignments, gifts and purpose.

“Divine” refers to the unseen realm of which we are very much a part of and connected to in our spirit first and foremost, but also in our soul (mind, will and emotions – also unseen but very real). Those who don’t pay attention or live unaware, may often call divine assignments, divine connections, divine conversations, divine intervention and divine timing “coincidence”. Nothing in this world is coincidence. Everything in nature, our bodies, science, the spirit realm and life in general runs on laws, order and principals, cause and effect, sowing and reaping, etc. For instance: a plane stays on the ground because of the law of gravity. However, there’s a higher law (law of lift) that can override the law of gravity and cause a plane to fly. Then other laws of nature involved in say, a hurricane, may override that law of lift and down comes the plane, however spirit and God are the highest laws and forms of life. Prayer, faith, belief, the power of words (words are spirit and life or spirit and death), and a relationship with God, etc, may affect the hurricane or cause you to have wisdom in your spirit to not be in the way of the hurricane or on that plane so that you override any effects it could have in your life. Nothing is coincidence including you. God created you specifically and complete as a spirit being, to be fruitful and multiply in many ways, to be connected with Him, to discover fully the person He created you to be and discover your higher purpose.

We can all say we go to work with the purpose to pay the bills. But the kind of work, who we work with, where we work, etc. can all have divine purpose. You may meet people there that you would never otherwise have found or been part of their lives. The time that you work there may be God preparing you for something else, somewhere else. God uses natural means, choices and circumstances to protect us sometimes. Divine intervention often comes in the form of senses or doing things that may not be typically us and we think “oh that’s strange”. No, not really…. The more aware you become of God and the divine, the more you will start to see how much more you are part of something much greater beyond yourself. There’s so much more to you to be discovered and far more meaning to just getting through life or another day.

As you reflect on your own life, years and experiences, I believe you can recognize some of those “divine” moments. Even at 60, your future is ahead of you – not behind you. Perhaps there are new dreams for you, new insights and understanding even about yourself. Seek and you will find. Blessings to you.
